The Greyhound WHL Player of the Week is forward Ty Morris of the Red Deer Rebels. Morris earned player of the week honours by recording two goals and nine points in four games including a power-play goal during the week of January 24th to January 30th. Morris helped lead the Rebels to a 3-1 record for the week.

On Tuesday, January 25th, Morris recorded two assists in a 3-2 victory against the visiting Calgary Hitmen. On Wednesday, January 26th, Morris scored the Rebels lone goal in a 2-1 loss to the Hitmen in Calgary.

On Friday, January 28th, Morris recorded four assists in a 5-1 victory against the visiting Brandon Wheat Kings. On Saturday, January 29th, Morris scored a goal and added an assist in a 4-2 win against the visiting Prince George Cougars.

Morris, a 20-year-old from Millet, Alberta was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

This was a well deserved honour for Ty. He has been a revelation since joining the Rebels tallying 37 points in only 25 games. He has added another dimension to the Rebels offense and his ability to play the point on the powerplay has been very productive.

Ty has been everything the Giants wanted but couldn't get out of him. To his credit, his hard work is paying off.

Wonder what led to the turn around? hmmmmmmmmmmm?

The Western Hockey League today announced that forward Ty Morris of the Red Deer Rebels has been named the HUSKY WHL Player of the Month for January. Morris recorded points in 13 of the 14 games he played helping lead the Rebels to a 9-5 record in January.

The 20-year-old from Millet, Alberta recorded ten goals and 23 points in 14 games. Morris also had a plus minus rating of 12 and led all WHL players in scoring during the month.

Morris recorded three power-play goals and added three game-winning goals while collecting only 12 penalty minutes. He is currently first in team scoring with 24 goals and 54 points.

Morris was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

His accomplishments make Ty Morris a deserving choice as the HUSKY WHL Player of the Month for January.

Got to give Suter credit he has done what 3, maybe its 4?, other coaches couldn't. Hopefully Ty can keep it up and get an NHL team to pick him up.
