Now i have had the flu and missed Friday's game but i did listen on the radio and it sounded pretty wild. It started when Kootney goalie ( Glass ) hit Bronco forward David Murray with his blocker in the face. As Murray fell to the ice, dazed and not seeming to know where he was, Glass continued his attack with his blocker hitting Murray repeatedly in the head as Murray laid on the ice. Bronco players came to Murray's aid and out from the melee came Glass and skated out to the blue line and laid the challenge to Bronco goalie Kyle Moir. Moir, knowing that Glass is trying to get him ejected also wouldn't bite. Glass skated to his bench removing his gear. When he was standing there listening to the penalties he fully expected to get a game and suspension. When the ref announced 2 min. for roughing he got dressed real quick and went back to defending his net.

The Murray that Glass took out with his blocker is the same Murray who put Glasses younger brother out with a concussion before Murray became a Bronco and played with Lethbridge. During a radio interview in Med Hat Glass said he thought there was no way he would still be in the game and was shocked he only got two minutes.

Dean Chynoweth, seeing Murray laying on the ice and watching Glass skate out and challenge Moir, let the ref know what he thought of his call. The ref gave Dean a 10 minute misconduct. Then Dean went crazy throwing a water bottle at the ref and then receiving a gross misconduct. He then threw a couple more water bottles at the ref before being escorted to the dressing room and the fans taking over in the bottle throwing. I don't know about this ref, but then to rub salt in the womb he gives The Bronco's a bench minor for the fans delaying the game. After that call security i'm told had to call in The R.C.M.P. to instill order and escort the ref off the ice and to his vehicle.

Now i have a little question. If a goalie uses his blocker several times on a player and skates out and challenges the opposing goalie to a fight, is that not more than two for roughing?

Maybe CH was there and can shed a little light on this. From what i have been told it was a very viscious attack.

Since I was at the wrong end of the rink I can't say what started the ruckus.
But what I did see was Glass stting on Murray's back and thumping him to the back of his head with his blocker. Boris then comes bowls Glass over coming to Murray's aid and the al ---- broke loose.
Glass tried to goad Moir into doing something stupid but it didn't work. We were all yelling at Moir to stay his ground. Whether he heard us or not is questionable.

I believe that the fans would not have been so irate if Thompson had done his job instead of wimping out with a 2 minute roughing call.

Also I would bet that the disallowed goal was actually a goal. From where I was standing it looked like it was in. The same view that Thompson had by the way except the altitude.

Added thought. Lost in all this Glass stuff was the hit by Sagat on R.J. which put R.J. out of the lineup Sunday. Hope he gets back Tuesday. Cruse played defense Sunday against Regina. I don't think that will work against Prince George.

Just read on the injury report R.J. is out indefeinite with concusion.

I have two questions. I heard Sagat gave R.J. a cheap hit. Can you tell me what happened. Also i hope Boris was on the ice and didn't come off the bench and did i see he had his face shield off Sunday? If he did then we have a little help in the toughness dept.

Boris was on the ice at the time. First game back without the face guard. He said after the game he was 100%.

RJ was run into the boards. Sagat received a boarding penalty.

-Swift Current Broncos head coach Dean Chynoweth has been suspended for two games and been fined $250.00 for receiving a gross misconduct versus Kootenay on January 28. One game of the suspension has been served with one game remaining.

Still waiting for word on Mr. Glass.

I don't think anything is going to happen. First off the director of officials was in attendance so the league would have the report immediatley. Makes no sense how a goalie can use a blocker on a player and get off scott free. I have nothing against Glass, i would say the same about any goalie who uses his blocker to pound on a player.
