Calgary - The Western Hockey League today announced that forward Ty Morris of the Red Deer Rebels has been named the HUSKY WHL Player of the Month for January. Morris recorded points in 13 of the 14 games he played helping lead the Rebels to a 9-5 record in January.

The 20-year-old from Millet, Alberta recorded ten goals and 23 points in 14 games. Morris also had a plus minus rating of 12 and led all WHL players in scoring during the month.

Morris recorded three power-play goals and added three game-winning goals while collecting only 12 penalty minutes. He is currently first in team scoring with 24 goals and 54 points.

Morris was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

His accomplishments make Ty Morris a deserving choice as the HUSKY WHL Player of the Month for January.

Good week for Ty. Firstly he gets POTW honours, quickly followed by the monthly honour. He was the obvious choice really. Has anybody else in the league made as much of an impact for their new team?

edit: 100 posts! Second line here I come!!! :groovy:
