Jan. 19 2006 will be a night to remember for the Fort Saskatchewan Midget AAA Rangers. For all 22 players that make up this year’s roster they will be able to tell their kids that they played the Canadian Women’s Olympic team and helped them prepare for what Team Canada hopes is a gold medal in Turin Italy this February. The game will have 7 players who Should be in the WHL next season Brent Regner(Giants),Phil Gervais(Broncos), Matt Tassone(Broncos),Devon Kalinski(Hitmen),Danny McPherson(Hurricanes),Matt Schneider(Bruins), Chris Langkow(Chiefs).Back in 2002 before the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City the Canadian Women’s Olympic Team played a series of exhibition games against Midget AAA teams from across Alberta to better prepare them for their Olympic competition. Team Canada brass felt that elite Midget AAA hockey is equal in terms of speed, and skill to that of Women’s hockey. The Womens team has played a number of teams in the AMHL allready this will be the first time the Fort gets a crack at the best female hockey players in the world, and they’ll be playing by the women’s rules, which means no hitting. With the Olympics so close you can expect the best they have to offer. It’s a good bet you’ll see Hayley Wickenheiser and Cassie Campbell there.Tickets can be purchased through the Fort Saskatchewan Midget AAA Rangers.Tickets are $5.The Rangers Are in 2nd place overall in the AMHL.
