Americans, MDA team up for 11th Annual Skills Competition

Kennewick, WA – The Tri-City Americans and the Muscular Dystrophy Association are teaming up once again for the 11th Annual 2005-06 Americans Skills Competition, which will take place this Sunday, January 8th at the Toyota Center. The event starts at 1:00PM.

Fans will have the chance to bid on Americans Skills Competition game-worn jerseys from their favorite players starting on Friday, January 6th during the Portland vs. Tri-City game at the Toyota Center. Bidding will close during the Skills Competition event on Sunday. MDA representatives will be on hand through out the competition collecting donations. There will also be a $5 suggested-donation at the door, with all money donated benefiting the Tri-City area MDA chapter. Concessions will also be available during the event.

The Skills Competition will feature Schneider’s Shooters pitted against McDonald’s Maulers in a series of events to test players’ puck control, speed, accuracy, strength and agility. The Americans will also be joined by the Tri-City Amateur Hockey Association Squirt Rep Teams. The three teams will compete against one another in six different categories, including:

• The Puck Control Relay
• Fastest Skater
• Shot Accuracy
• Hardest Shot
• Break-Out
• Shootout
