+ Enlarge Lethbridge, Alberta – Lethbridge Hurricanes’ General Manager, Roy Stasiuk, today announced the team has completed a six player trade with the Seattle Thunderbirds. The Canes have acquired forwards Mitch Fadden, Yashar Farmanara and goaltender Gavin McHale in exchange for forwards Kyle Pess, Rob Klinkhammer and goaltender Kevin Opsahl.

Fadden, a 17-year-old product of Victoria, BC has nine goals and eleven assists in 38 games this season. Farmanara has a goal and two assists in 23 games this season. The native of West Vancouver is in his third year with the T-Birds. McHale boasts a record of 3-11-0-1 and of G.A.A. of 3.25. The product of Winnipeg has a save percentage of .897.

Pess notched eleven goals and 14 assists in 34 games this season. The product of Red Deer had a career high 48 points last season. Klinkhammer has five goals and seven assists in 35 games this season. Opsahl was obtained by the Hurricanes from the Spokane Chiefs prior to the 2005-2006 season. The Trail, B.C. native has posted a record of 15-15-0-3 and a G.A.A. of 2.78 this season.

“The acquisition of Mitch, Yashar and Gavin will hopefully address immediate needs to upgrade our team’s overall skill level. At the same time we need players in this age group, particularly for next season, to help our 16-year-olds continue through our transition into a youth movement” said Stasiuk.

“Seattle approached us about Kyle and Rob and that’s a great indicator as to how these players are perceived in the WHL community,” noted Stasiuk. “They’re great kids and their time is now in terms of contributing to a very good Thunderbirds team that is looking to bolster its lineup with some experience”

All three new Hurricanes are expected to practice with the team on Tuesday and will be available for comment at 2:30.

Can any T-birds fans tell us about the players we are recieving ? I can tell you , that you are getting a very good player in Pess. Works very hard , but is on the smaller side. Klinkhammer , well good luck with him. No work ethic, unless it is tobboganing with the other players . Opshal ..will be a very good back up . Just my opinion .
