ATTENDANCE UPDATE - I have to admit I'm curious how many local hockey fans
who avoid games seemingly at all costs will show up for Friday's
Cougars-Hitmen game to see ex-Cougars goaltender Justin Pogge. Isn't this a
tad backward, attending to see the visitors? Root, root, root for the road
team, I guess... Really, isn't there something shameful in that?... For
those who care, the Cougars are averaging 3,054 fans through 23 home dates,
with 10 of those games drawing less than 3,000 spectators. This for a team
that sits at 26-17-0-3 overall and 16-6-0-1 on home ice... Meanwhile, the
Kamloops Blazers, who are nine points back in the standings and play a
paint-drying style, draw an average of 4,861 fans - loyal fans. That
franchise hasn't won a playoff series since 1999, so don't tell me it's
because of the winning tradition. Plus, there's more than a million bucks
apparently missing in a pilfering scheme and a slew of fired former
employees, so don't tell me management issues deserve the snub this city is
giving the Cats... Oh, that noted hockey hotbed of Tri-City is averaging
3,613 fans per game...

That's because the Rebels are a well run organization, the same can't be said for the Cougs or the Blazers.
