I am considering to buy one,I have done some research(well i just started to reasearch actually),but I do not know about all of the different brands, and each brand most likely has their own pros & cons. Is there a specific one I should get?

I love my iriver. The one I have is 5GB, i think it is the H10 model. If you have all your music files in WMP, you can easily transfer them over. The headphones were crap, but I had bought sweet ones for my diskman a bit back, and just use those instead. It comes with everything you need, charger, headphones, connecting cables (usb), software, case, etc. And if you have a car, you can buy an adapter for your stereo for around $50. Not too bad.

I guess what really matters is the size of the player. 5GB is not big enough for me. I know they say that you can fit so many songs on one of these, but those signs are crap. It depends on the size of the song, but I couldnt fit nearly all my songs on 5GB. I have at least 30GB of media files on my comp, so I will be upgrading pretty shortly.

The other thing, do you know much about iTunes? That is a program that many mp3 players come with, especially the iPods. If you can understand the program and get it to work, great. If your not computer savvy, STAY AWAY. Its EVIL. Just a warning.

Your going to want to do some research about flash vs hard drive. As well, before considering getting an iPod, check out what comes with it, and what your going to need to use it. iPod's are priced at pretty much what Apple says they are going to be priced at, with little to no mark-up. Where the money is made is on the accessories. Also ask about warrenties. I know that with Apple, you have to send it to Apple themselves. Other companies do things differently.

Just a few things to think about.

One thing you should also look at, is the minimun requirements from your home PC. The bigger, newer models of MP3 players require the more updated operating system/hardware. If you have an older computer, it might not work with it.

As for their organizing programs, I personally don't bother. My MP2 player is like a plug-in external memory device. As such, I just copy over whatever files I want to. Simple!

So I took my money and bought this one:http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0665000FS10068487&catid=10205&logon=&langid=EN (http://http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0665000FS10068487&catid=10205&logon=&langid=EN) from futureshop. I liked it because it has a rechargeable battery, I was considering the Iriver but that one was out the the price range, when you add the warrenty costs. I am still trying to figure everything out,the screen is small and it has no FM tuner, but I never did need one of those because I already have a AM/FM portable walkmen, but that would have been an added bonus. I know that I might recieve both negative and positive comments, and it kind of broke a hole in my wallet, but the warrenty covers it until Valentine's day 2008. I think that I invested my money on a good MP3 player, but that has yet to be determined.

I do not listen to music often enough to fill a 1GB player,so I returned it and picked up this one http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10059702&catid=
