Toronto - The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Red Deer Rebels goaltender Josh Lepp is the ADT CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending Sunday January 29 after picking up three wins last week.
Lepp, a 20-year-old native of Dalemy, Saskatchewan, posted a goals against average of 1.33 and a save percentage of .958 last week. Josh started off the week with an impressive 3-1 win over the Kootenay Ice, the number 9 ranked team in the CHL Top Ten, where he stopped 29 of 30 shots. Lepp followed that up with a 26 save performance in a 4-2 win over the visiting Portland Winter Hawks. He finished off the week by stopping 36 of the 37 shots he faced in a 2-1 win over the Brandon Wheat Kings. Lepp helped the Rebels move within four points of the Swift Current Broncos for the final playoff spot in the WHL Central Division.
Each week during the regular season, the CHL will recognize the ADT CHL Goaltender of the Week and will present the ADT CHL Goaltender of the Year Award to the CHL's top netminder at the conclusion of the 2005-06 season.
