Under the Helmet
Zack Dailey
In a shootout with ... Silvertip Zack Dailey
Height: 5 feet 6
Weight: 155
Hometown: Healy, Alaska
Age: 16
Key stats: Dailey, a center, has six goals and 12 points in 42 games this season. He is tied for the team lead with Zach Hamill at plus-10, which means Everett has scored 10 more goals than the opposition when each player has been on the ice.
First shot: What is it like going against players who weigh nearly twice as much as you do?
Answer: "It's not too bad. We wear a whole bunch of padding, and you can't be scared of big guys or you won't make it in hockey. I have to hit, and I love that part of the game. Besides, I've gained a little weight and am probably closer to 160 now."
Second shot: You've scored a couple of highlight-reel goals against Carey Price, a first-round National Hockey League pick. What exactly is that move?
A: "They were both breakaways, so I should be scoring on those. It's just a fake to the backhand and then a shot with the forehand."
Third shot: Are all the games starting to take a toll?
A: "Not really. Usually when the season is over I'm hungry for more games, so this season I'm getting what I really want."
