Former Cougar to Make NHL Debut


The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that they have recalled defenseman Dustin Byfuglien (BUHF-lihn) from the Norfolk Admirals of the AHL.

Byfuglien has appeared in 53 games at Norfolk this season and has scored 8 goals, 2 on the power play, while adding 15 assists for 23 points with 75 penalty minutes.

A native of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Byfuglien, 20, was the Blackhawks 8th round selection (245th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft out of Prince George in the Western Hockey League. At 6.03 and 238 pounds, he is in his first season of professional hockey.

Byfuglien played for Chicago Mission of the Mid-American Hockey League in 2001-02 appearing in 52 games and scoring 32 goals while adding 30 assists for 62 points with 40 penalty minutes.
