Playoff format changes?

Anyone else think that an above .500 team in Kamloops NOT making the playoff is retarded? They would be #2 in the US division, but instead are likely not going to play in the playoffs.

Possibly a solution like the CFL where teams can earn spots in other divisions if there is a particulary weak or particularly strong division?

Too many teams make the playoffs anyway, but that's not going to change because teams don't want to give up playoff revenues. Teh NBA take the top eight teams in each conference. The only teams guaranteed a spot are the winners of the divisions within those conferences. So all the #1 teams + the next best five teams. Doesn't matter if one division gets all it's team sin the playoffs or not.
