As many of our fans know Dave Piland, best known as the powerful, booming voice at Everett Silvertips games, has level 4 glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. Diagnosed in October 2005 Dave and his family have bravely been battling his cancer all season long and the Silvertips are proud to announce a series of fund raisers that we hope will finically benefit the Piland family and off set some of their medical expenses.

During the past two games, volunteers have been selling special "Everett, Lets Play Hockey" wrist bands to help bring awareness to his fight. The few remaining wrist bands will be available during the Silvertips final regular season home game on Saturday, March 18th against the Vancouver Giants. Wrist Bands require a minimum $3 donation but more is always acceptable.

Also during the Silvertips final regular season home game on the 18th, Silvertips will wear a special jersey on Dave's behalf. The newly designed jersey, complete with a special "Let's Play Hockey" patch, will only be wore during this game. Immediately following the game the jerseys will be personally signed by the player and will be placed for auction on the team's website (www.everettsilvertips.com) beginning on Monday March 20th with the auctions running until Monday March 27th with all net proceeds going directly to Dave and his family.

This will make the first time in team history that the Silvertips will wear a jersey that is different from their traditional green or white jerseys. The design of the jersey will be unveiled during pre-game introductions. These limited edition jerseys will not be sold in the team store and will not be made available anywhere else. This is truly a one-of-a-kind jersey

Also the Silvertips have collected numerous items (hockey and non-hockey related) that will also be auctioned off to benefit the family. Many of these items have been donated from Silvertips fans directly and we appreciate everyone's effort.

The Silvertips would like to encourage all of our fans to participate in these events.
