Here is a recap that is from the White that is not that bad.

First off, the ref was a puke and had 0 control over the game from the opening faceoff until the final horn. Couture punched the ref, yes intentionally, when he was going off for a line change late in the third period, and the ref looked at him and just skated away. Gibbons threw a ton of punches and only got 2 for roughing, as did Wall. Hansen who was double teaming Love with Gibbons, didn't get anything if memory serves. Love was just coming to the aide of a teammate but he went overboard throwing the blocker punches. FitzGerald then jumped on top of Love and was firing punches along with Gibbons, and he only got 2 for roughing. Topelko cross checked either Wheat or Annesly in the face twice during the scrum and got nothing. Durand cross checked another player in the face and then continually slashed away at Wheat or Annesly. He ended up with a gross misconduct. FitzGerald speared someone in the gut twice before he jumped in on the Love dogpile.

If you weren't there, please don't go making accusations and pointing fingers. Seattle is lucky they got away with only a couple of roughing penalties, Gibbons and Topelko could have ended up with gross misconducts or match penalties, and got off very lightly. Wall is the only player from Everett who got off lightly, no one else from Everett exept Love were wanting any part of the goon fest, and did their best to stay out of it. I have a feeling both teams will be sending in videos of the altercation, and I would not be the least bit surprised to see fines and suspensions for a couple of Seattle players. Wall is the only player from Everett that did anything to warrant a review by the league, and he definetely deserves a suspension of some kind. Seattle was frustrated, they took exception to Love tackling Gibbons in front of the net, and they lost their cool. Look at it this way, at least they showed some heart even if they went about it the wrong way, but ultimately they may have cost themselves dearly if players get suspended seeing as how Metcalfe and Thompson are on the shelf for who knows how long.

In the Love dog pile, Love was being held to the ground and having 3 Birds over him talking trash. The refs saw this and didn't give any penalties. At the least, based on their lips, the things they were saying things that could warrent a Unsportsmanlike Conduct minor. Also after the game Fitz was in the autograph area of the EEC talking trash to some fans. Thats my take of the whole situation.

yes I was. I was at the end that happened on when I first read that, I was surprised how accurate it was for the White Board. It thought it was also amazing Wall got into it. He left the Crease and went after a guy and ripped his mask off. It will be intresting to see what comes out of this since there was some roughing at the end of the game. Also the Offical in the box with one our guys, was having him re-enact some of the fight. It was sorta funny to see the offical get into it. This will only make this rivalry tougher.

why was wall allowed to stay in the game, when he threw a punch..just because he had a shut out going, should not be a reason for him to remain in the game....

anyway congrats tips on your win...and congrats on your big upcoming fire drill night..biggest thing to hit everett since....well i cant recall.

Ok I'm just curious about this punch that was thrown at the ref. Was it in the shoulder? I was under the impression that that kind of thing is an automatic misconduct, and how does the ref miss a punch to himself? I've seen players bump the ref accidently, but a punch?

Well if learning from history is anything nothing will become of this. They league will admit that the ref made a mistake and do nothing. blah blah blah.

Then someone at a future date will get seriously hurt in a similar incident, and the league will come down with a sledgehammer saying how they wont tolerate this kind of thing blah blah blah.

To be fair, though ... Love got the whole thing started.

Just prior to the fracas, Love and one of the Seattle guys (I forgot which one) tangled behind the net, and Mitch basically got him into a headlock and threw him to the ice, right in the crease. That's when all hell broke loose. I don't think Mitch ever got up off the ice. It was a complete cluster**** down there. Wall was in his crease and took exception to something and with his glove still on, punched Fitzgerald twice in the head. Then, the Seattle guy (#4) pulled him out of the crease, which is when they both dropped gloves and took off the hats and went at it.

We all (and the Tips, too) thought that Wall was out of the game for fighting, and they even put in Leland Irving into the game. When the penalties were all announced (all minors for roughing ????), they put Wall back in net. It was really odd. Basically 3 or 4 separate fights, and not one major.

As far as the ref that got punched, it happened right in front of us. Couture was coming off the ice, towards his bench, jawing with one of the tips. The ref was "escorting" him there, just skating next to him, making sure that he got on the bench instead of running down and starting a fight. He shoved him once, and the ref directed him harder (pushed him a bit) to the bench. Couture then basically punched him in the upper chest. Nobody could believe that there wasn't a penalty on that at the time.

All in all, though, the line brawl aside, this was a high quality win. Tips got up early (2 goals on 3 shots), got the goalie yanked from the game, and then played ferocious defense. The T-Birds gave it EVERYTHING they had, but we blocked shot after shot, kept them in the corners, and on every small breakdown, Wall was huge. Playoff atmosphere in the rink, playoff intensity on the ice, Quality win for the Tips. We're up on Seattle 3-2 in the season series, but even those 2 losses on Seattle's ice were games that the Tips probably could have (and should have) won. No contest, if these teams meet up in the post season, Seattle's chances of going to London are done.

I thought the tips played a pretty good defensive game. This game reminded me a lot of last year's team. Very few shots, great defense and just score when the opportunity presents itself. This year it seems the boys have tried to generate a little more offense & it has hurt them in the way of giving up the puck & odd man rushes. If they stick to this type of game plan, they will have the opportunity to win a lot of games, it will just matter if the bounces go their way as they did last year.
