The Broncos kicked off a 5 game home stand this week when they hosted the Regina Pats on Wednesday night. The Broncos then played host to the Moose Jaw Warriors on Friday night and the Prince Albert Raiders on Saturday night.

The Broncos began the week on Wednesday night when the Regina Pats traveled to town. Regina would jump out to an early lead in the game thanks to Matt Robinson's power play goal at the 2:48 mark of the 1st period. Despite outshooting the Pats 11-5 in the 1st period, Regina walked out of the 1st period with a 1-0 lead. The games 2nd goal did not come until the 18:25 mark of the 3rd period when Ryan McDonald added insurance for the Pats to make the final score from Wednesday night 2-0 in favor of Regina. The Broncos managed to outshoot the Pats 33-19 in the game; however, David Reekie stopped all 33 Bronco shots in the contest. Kyle Moir was in net for the Broncos and stopped 17 of 19 Regina shots. A total of 2,054 fans took in the game in Swift Current.

The Moose Jaw Warriors made a stop in Swift Current on Friday night for another battle between the Warriors and the Broncos. Veteran forward Marc Desloges wasted no time kicking things off for the Broncos as he scored at the 8:24 mark of the 1st period (PP) to give the Broncos a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes of play. The Broncos would continue their strong play in the 2nd period and Brandon Tidball would eventually be rewarded with his 5th of the season just 2 minutes into the frame. At the 17:02 mark, Marc Desloges would add his 2nd of the night to make the score 3-0 for the horsemen, but Cole Simpson would score before the period was up to make it 3-1 heading into the final 20 minutes of play. The 3rd period would be the Marc Desloges show as he assisted on Daniel Rakos' goal at the 1:25 mark, and, after Kyle Fecho scored for the Warriors to make it 4-2, would take control of the game. Desloges scored his hat trick goal at the 9:45 mark of the 3rd period and would then score his 4th goal of the game at the 13:30 mark. Blair Jones would score with less than 4 minutes remaining in the game (SH) to make the final score 6-3 in favor of the Broncos. Marc Desloges would finish the night with 5 points (4G; 1A) while Dane Crowley and Michael Wilson each had 3 assists. Joey Perricone and Andrew Leslie each allowed 3 goals against for Moose Jaw while Kyle Moir stopped 31 of 34 Warrior shots. Swift Current outshot Moose Jaw 39-34 in the contest. A total of 1,963 fans took in the game.

On Saturday night the Broncos played host to the Prince Albert Raiders. The Broncos once again scored the first goal of the game as Dale Weise scored just 2:19 into the game (PP) to give the Broncos a 1-0 lead. The Raiders, however, would tie the game up at the 5:04 mark of the 1st thanks to Aki Seitsonen's power play goal. The Broncos would then go on a tear, scoring 3 goals in just under 5 minutes. Brandon Tidball would score his 6th of the season and 2nd in as many games at 12:41, Michael Wilson scored his 3rd of the season at 16:14, and Ned Lukacevic scored his team leading 25th goal of the season at the 17:49 mark. The Broncos would skate away with a 4-1 lead after 20 minutes of play. In the 2nd period, the Raiders would march back into the game thanks to a power play goal from Ryan DePape at the 16:22 mark. The Raiders would strike again as A.J. Thelen scored at the 18:10 mark of the 2nd period to make the score 4-2 for Swift Current heading into the 3rd period. In the 3rd, Marc Desloges would score his 5th goal in 2 games at the 5:54 mark, while Evan Schafer would make the score 5-4 at the 7:47 mark. In the end, it would be the Broncos that skated away with a 5-4 victory on Saturday night. Prince Albert outshot Swift Current 34-26 in front of 2,051 fans.

Numbers: Saturday night's win, when combined with Red Deer's loss against the Regina Pats clinched a playoff birth for the Swift Current Broncos. The Broncos are currently 6 points ahead of Red Deer with the Rebels only having 2 games remaining. Swift Current is also just 2 points back of Lethbridge for 3rd place in the Central Division. The Broncos have now won 5 of their last 6 games and are one of the hottest teams in the league with a record of 7-2-1-0 in their last 10 contests. The team has scored 11 goals in its last 2 games, the first time this season the team has recorded back-to-back 5+ goal games. Ned Lukacevic continues to lead the Broncos in scoring with 52 points (25G; 27A) in 60 games as a Bronco this season. Levi Nelson is 2nd on the Broncos with 20 goals, while Marc Desloges and Daniel Rakos are tied for 2nd with 23 assists. Brandon Tidball leads the Broncos with 227 penalty minutes while Dane Crowley is 2nd with 147. Broncos goaltender Kyle Moir now has a .914 save % in 63 games played this season to go along with a 2.83 goals against average.

Special Teams: The Broncos power play has scored in back to back games after going 1 for 9 versus Moose Jaw on Friday night and 1 for 4 against the Raiders on Saturday. On the season, the team has scored 54 power play goals on 357 opportunities, good for a 15.1% success rate. Ned Lukacevic leads the team with 10 power play goals while Marc Desloges has a team leading 12 power play assists. On the penalty kill, the Broncos allowed 2 power play goals against on Saturday night for the first time since February 15th. Through 69 games, the Broncos have allowed 58 goals against on 420 penalty kills, good for an 86.2% success rate.
