Alexander Radulov scored his way into the record books Sunday.

Radulov scored seven goals and added four assists as his Quebec Remparts crushed the Rimouski Oceanic 16-3 and clinched first place in the West Division in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action Sunday.

Radulov's seven goals and 11 points rank second among single-game offensive performances in Canadian Hockey League history. Three players scored eight goals in a game, most recently Mathieu Benoit of the Acadie-Bathurst Titan in 1999.

Andre Savard of the Remparts had 12 points in a game on Feb. 5, 1971.

Radulov, 19, will also win this year's QMJHL scoring race by a comfortable margin, finishing with 61 goals and 91 assists. Chicoutimi's Stanislav Lascek finished second with 135 points.

Radulov only took eight shots in the game, posting an .875 shooting percentage for the day.

Elsewhere, it was: St. John's 3, Halifax 2; P.E.I. 4, Cape Breton 3 (OT); Moncton 3, Acadie-Bathurst 1; Lewiston 6, Saint John 3; Chicoutimi 9, Shawinigan 3; Rouyn-Noranda 5, Victoriaville 2; Val-d'Or 4, Gatineau 3 (SO); and Drummondville 8, Baie-Comeau 2.

At Quebec, Mathieu Melanson registered two goals and five assists while Jordan LaVallee, with two, Brent Aubin, Maxime Lacroix, Felix Petit, Simon Courcelles and Angelo Esposito had the other goals for the Remparts (52-16-1-1).

Marc-Andre Laroche, Sebastien Aspirot and Maxime Lincourt replied for the Oceanic (10-57-2-1).

We all knew the Oceanic were a one-line team (from last year), and without Sidney Crosby this year, they completely broken down.

Finishing 2005-06 with a record of:
GP 70
Wins 10
Losses 57
OTL 2
SOL 1

GF 184
GA 377
Pts 23

Dead last in the Q.

Compared with 2004-05 when they finished first with 45-17-5-3 GF 333 GA 239 Pts 98

But a record is still a record.

HHmm... did the Oceanic get one for the worst drop from one season to the next. 98 down to 23 points.

Impressive for Alexander, sad for the Oceanic. I wonder what happened with their attendance too, must have been a huge drop.

Look at the bright side for the Oceanic, they should get some good draft picks. Maybe they can draft another Crosby.

Also remember the Q is notorious for "louding" up with talent for a one year run. I imagine they did it last year trading away everything for a chance to win it all.
As for 11 pts in a game, well it is the Q and that is wide open hockey especially when compared to what we watch out here.
