Spokane to Select First Overall in 2006 WHL Bantam Draft

Calgary, AB – The Bantam Draft Lottery was held this morning at the Western Hockey League Office in Calgary, Alberta and a Spokane ball was drawn, giving the Chiefs the first overall pick in the 2006 WHL Bantam Draft. The second selection will be by the Red Deer Rebels, the third selection will be by the Chilliwack Bruins, the fourth overall selection will be by the Prince Albert Raiders and the fifth overall selection by the Kamloops Blazers. The 2006 WHL Bantam Draft will be held in Calgary on Thursday, May 4th, 2006.
Following is the order of selection for the 1st round of the Bantam Draft.

2) Red Deer Rebels
3) Chilliwack Bruins
4) Prince Albert Raiders
5) Kamloops Blazers
6) Swift Current Broncos
7) Lethbridge Hurricanes
8) Tri-City Americans
9) Brandon Wheat Kings

The Lottery involved the four non-playoff teams (Kamloops, Prince Albert, Red Deer and Spokane) from the 2005-06 season along with the expansion franchise Chilliwack Bruins and determined the order of the first five picks in the 1st round of the Bantam Draft.
A representative of KPMG in Calgary supervised the Lottery.
