Hockey Greetings!
The 2005-2006 US Division Champions, Everett Silvertips will begin their Western Conference Semi- Final series with the Kelowna Rockets on Friday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna, BC. It will be the second time the two squads have faced off with each other in a WHL playoff series. In their last playoff meeting during the 2004 Western Conference Finals, the Silvertips defeated the Rockets in seven games to move on to the WHL Finals. During the 2005-2006 season, the Rockets went 3-1 against the Silvertips and 2-0 against Everett in Kelowna.



1ST ROUND RECAP VERSUS TRI-CITY
The Everett Silvertips defeated the Tri-City Americans 4-1 in the best of seven first round series to move on the 2nd Round of the WHL Playoffs for the 3rd year in a row. Silvertips goaltender Leland Irving allowed only 4 goals in 5 games throughout the series. The Swan Hills, AB native also recorded 2 shutouts in the series. The Silvertips went 2-1 at home during the first round series and 2-0 on the road versus Tri-City. The Silvertips outscored the Americans 13-4 in the five games. Shaun Heshka (2 goals, 5 assists) led the Silvertips in scoring in the first round with 7 points. Forward Zach Hamill (3 goals, 3 assists) finished 2nd on the Silvertips in scoring in the first round series with 6 points and led the team in goals with 3.


SILVERTIPS PLAYOFF SCORING LEADERS
Defenseman Shaun Heshka (2 goals, 5 assists) leads the Silvertips in playoff scoring with 7 points. The Melville, SK native also leads the team in assists (5) in the 2006 WHL Playoffs. Zach Hamill (3 goals, 3 assists) is 2nd on the team in playoff scoring with 6 points and leads the team in goals scored with (3). In goal, Leland Irving has recorded 4 wins, 0.79 GAA, .968% SP and 2 Shutouts during the playoffs.


SILVERTIPS AND ROCKETS REGULAR SEASON SERIES RUNDOWN
This will be the second time in franchise history the Everett Silvertips will battle the Kelowna Rockets in a playoff series. The Silvertips and Rockets met in the 2004 Western Conference Finals in the Silvertips inaugural season. Everett upset the Rockets 4-3 in the seven game series. During the 2005-2006 regular season, the Silvertips posted a 1-3 record against the Rockets this season. Everett went 1-1 against Kelowna at the Everett Events Center this season and 0-2 at Prospera Place in Kelowna, BC. The Silvertips are 5-5-1 (Tie)-1 (OTL) all time against Kelowna in the regular season (3-2-1(tie) all time @ Everett, 2-3-1(OTL) all time @ Kelowna). In the four game season series, Rockets forward Justin Keller led the Rockets in scoring against Everett with 3 goals and 3 assists. Goaltender Derek Yeomans went 3-0 against the Silvertips and posted a 1.00 GAA, .962% SP and 1 Shutout. Silvertips forward Ondrej Fiala led the Silvertips in scoring against the Rockets with 2 goals and 2 assists. Torrie Wheat played in one game against Kelowna this season and tallied 3 goals in his only game played against the Rockets. In goal, Leland Irving went 1-3 against Kelowna with a 2.42 GAA and a .897% SP.


SILVERTIPS VS. ROCKETS SPECIAL TEAMS RUNDOWN
The Silvertips went 3 for 29 on the power play against the Rockets this season while Kelowna went 4 for 20 against the Silvertips on the extra man advantage. The Silvertips finished the 2005-2006 season 4th on the power play (81 of 420, 19.30%) and 5th on the penalty kill (295 of 343, 86.00%). The Kelowna Rockets finished the regular season 1st in the WHL on the power play (90 for 424, 21.23%) and 14th on the penalty kill (327 for 394, 82.99%). Currently in the playoffs, the Silvertips are 6 for 30 (20.00%) on the power play and 20 for 20 (100%) on the penalty kill. The Rockets are 3 for 28 (10.71%) on the power play and 24 for 31 (77.42%) on the penalty kill.


REMEMBER THE 2004 WESTERN CONFERENCE FINALS?
The Kelowna Rockets definitely remember the 2004 Western Conference Finals when they were defeated by the expansion Silvertips 4-3. There are currently 10 players from the 2004 Memorial Cup Champion Rockets hockey club that are on the 2006 Rockets squad. Mike Card, Kevin Reinholt, Chris Ray, Blake Comeau, Tyler Spurgeon, Brent Howarth, Justin Keller, Kyle Cumiskey, Troy Bodie and Derek Yeomans all played in the 2004 Western Conference Finals and will battle the Silvertips in the 2006 playoff series. There are only 5 players from the Silvertips this season that played in the 2004 post season. Torrie Wheat, Mark Kress, Shaun Heshka, Cody Thoring and Zach Hamill are the only ones remaining from the 2004 Western Conference Champion Silvertips team.


SILVERTIPS HISTORY IN PLAYOFF OVERTIME
The Silvertips are 7-3 all time in franchise history in playoff overtime. Everett is currently 1-0 in the extra session in the 2006 WHL Playoffs.

GAME #6 GAME TIME CHANGED TO 6:05 P.M.
If the playoff series between the Silvertips and Rockets reach six games, Game #6 will take place at the Everett Events Center on Sunday, April 16 at 6:05 p.m. The game was originally scheduled for a 5:05 p.m. start but was changed to 6:05 p.m. to due the Easter Holiday.
