Dumb Facts

- Baseball great Larry Walker once tried out for the Regina Pats as a goaltender.

- The Pats' record holder for Points, Goals and Assists in a Career, Dale Derkatch did not play one NHL game, mainly because of his size. At the end of his hockey career, Dale was 5'5, and 135 lbs.

- The Pats own the CHL RECORD for the longest losing streak of 36 games from October 23, 1976 through January 23, 1977, and the CHL RECORD for the longest winless streak on the road(NOT surprised) with 36 games from October 3, 1976 through March 27, 1977

- At least we have the 2nd most consecutive 40 win seasons ever in the CHL with 7 from 1979-80 to 1985-86. As you can tell, the pats are an up and down franchise when it comes to performance.

-The Regina Pats are the oldest major junior hockey franchise in the world that have continuously operated from their original location and use the same name.

LoL!

I agree... its nice to see how many Pats are doing something beyond the dub. And if you were to add players from Regina, and played in the hockey regina system, we could seriously add about another 15-20 names. I can think of quite a few off the top of my head.

I thought it was funny too. :D

But ya there is definitely numerous players from Regina (and area) that were involved in Hockey Regina. It is always nice to see former Pats (especially Reginans in the Pro's).

You can remove Derek Eberle from that list... I believe he finished his pro career in 2002. If I'm not mistaken he's now a RCMP officer in Southern SK

ECHL
Matt Robinson - Alaska Aces (http://www.alaskaaces.com/news/story.cfm?ID=528)*
Scott Balan - Bakersfield Condors
Matt Hubbauer - Columbia Inferno (I) (?)(have heard absolutly nothing about hubbauer, perhaps he retired after all his injuries)
Grant Jacobsen - Columbia Inferno
Derek Eberle - Pensacola Ice Pilots
Kevin Saurette - Reading Royals
Louis Dumont - Utah Grizzlies
Eric Sonnenberg - Wheeling Nailers

He is (was) playing in Germany. He's had a rough go of it, and while I don't think anyone would blame him for packing it in, I can't really see that happening as long as someone will let him play. I just hope that whatever decisions he makes are good for his health. It's sad when someone's entire life revolves around, and their happines depends so greatly on something so fragile.

Matt Hubbauer is playing for the Lausitzer Foxes in Germany...

I had a list here of former Pats' playing pro, but it's been covered in the first post in the thread so I got rid of it. No point having 2 lists.

Good to see he is still playing. He is also doing very good there, at 5 goals and 9 points in the first 6 games. Its too bad that his injuries set him back, he could have gone much higher in pro hockey. Thanks for updating the rest of the list.

As for the east coast hockey league, I might just check the names I listed before and see whether there is any news of them moving or not, instead of looking through all the rosters in the league.

I updated my list, along with former pats currently playing in europe. Like I said earlier, feel free to add any names of players from regina that are playing pro, or former pats.

Ryan Getzlaf(former hitman) and Chris Kunitz from the Anaheim ducks are the only two regina NHLers I can remember off the top of my head, other than the ones I listed already.

Both of you guys have made it very helpful for me to locate former Pats players. Keep up the good work. I also think www.eurohockey.net would be good site to use for reference.

Also, check out www.reginapatsalumni.com

Deck signs with IHL's Flint Generals

FLINT, Mich. * The International Hockey League's Flint Generals have signed University of Regina defenceman Kyle Deck to a contract.

Deck, who leaves the U of R after one season with the Cougars, is expected to arrive in Flint on Saturday and could be in the Generals' lineup as early as Sunday.

Hailing from Sedley, Deck led all Cougar blueliners in scoring this season. He registered one goal, eight assists, and nine points in 24 Canada West games and also had assists in both of Regina's playoff games at Calgary.

Flint is currently in third place in the six-team IHL. The Generals have 11 games remaining in the regular season.

Also - Glen Burdon, A Defenceman, was selected by Kansas City Scouts in Round 2, # 20 Overall in the 1974 NHL Amateur Draft. Played 11 Games with the Club in 1974-75. Kansas City Scouts only played two seasons in Kansas. Glen wore # 17 Jersey.
