this year? Being a Blades fan, I just know of their situation, they'll be taking 2 euros this year. Hopefully they can upgrade their 2nd rounder since it'll be low.

Spokane needs 1 to replace Salmonsson. Having a top pick shouldnt hurt. Anybody know who the top players in the Import Draft are supposed to be?

on euros like whether or not they're wanting to come to the CHL but usually the guys that dont get moved up to the senior leagues for instance the Czech Republic will be interested in coming over.

I'm sure many of u know that most of the time a Czech will report. Good Russian players usually stay home although there are exceptions like Radulov. More Swedes are starting to come over and a few Slovaks as well but I think over the last couple years, most of the euros here are Czech's.

Swift has a high pick in the draft and already has a good euro in Danny Rakos. I would expect the broncos to select another euro.

Giants will probably not pick any Euros this year as both Repik and Bliznak can and should be back.

Bliznak was drafted by the Canucks, and will be 19.

Repik will be in his draft year and will be 18.

The Tips have Hromas who is 19 right now and Fiala who is 18. Hromas has already been drafted by the Blackhawks and speculation is that he will move up. This is Fiala's draft year and he is rated as a good prospect. We could use a Euro defenseman to add to out D-core that lost Heshka.

Brandon will not have Sandell. He signed a three-year contract with Ilves in Tampere, Finland last week.

Both Bahensky and Khudobin will be 20 yrs old and if kept will obviously take up to spots,I would like to see Khudobin back, but the Blades have 20 yr old goaltender Jim Watt,so I think that the Blades will be selecting 2 new Euros on June 28th (2 days before my birthday :groovy: ) for next season.

I hate to burst your bubble but here it is, from the Ilves official website.

Here is the press release dated April 27th, 2006 - in Finnish.

http://www.ilves.com/uutinen270406b.php

The headline of the press release reads "Sami Sandell returns to Ilves". The first sentence of the press release says "Ilves on tehnyt kolmevuotisen sopimuksen hyökkääjä Sami Sandellin kanssa." In English: "Ilves has agreed to a three year contract with forward Sami Sandell." The press release goes on to say that Sandell goes into the Finnish Army to do his compulsory service in July. In Finland, that is anywhere from 6 to 11 months. Most hockey players are given passes to play in games and are usually allowed to go to practice if they are based close to the team they play for.

Here is his write-up on the team web site - in Finnish.

http://www.ilves.com/sandell.php

Here is something in English - Ilves' roster for next season. It lists their signed roster and what year they are signed through.

Both of Bahensky and Khudobin will be 20 yrs old
From what I've heard thru the grapevine is that Khudobin is going to play for Dave King on Magnitogorsk Metallurg and Bahensky will be playing in the Czech Elite league somewhere. So the Blades will be selecting 2 euros i guess....

Totally up in the air for the Blazers. I could see them taking 2, 1 or even potentially none. Depends if Tesliuk gets signed and what they plan to do with Steinmann (3 goals in 55 games as an 18 year old).

If I was a betting man, I'd put my money on 2 (Tesliuk signing an AHL contract and Steinmann not being invited back).

Im sure the Pats will be, as Kalus likely won't be back, and I don't see the Pats keeping Hanzal...unless they can't trade him, and is assigned to Regina by Pheonix, then he would be forced to play here...but he will be traded.

Is there any chance Anze Kopitar will come back and play on the pats?
he was on the protected list for awhile, then dropped but if he comes to play in north america will it be here? or in pros?

Im pretty sure they dropped him completely to make room for Tolpeko. He will play pro next year wherever it be.

Kopitar has about a 99% chance of making the Kings this year. So theres no chance of him playing junior

HC Zlin of the Czech Extraliga, the top pro league in the Czech Republic, announce that they have signed F Stanislav Balan (Portland), F Michal Psurny (Kootenay), and F Roman Psurny (Medicine Hat). You can find the press release in Czech here:

http://hokej.zlin.cz/article/35365.druhou-posilou-hame-je-pavel-kasparik-muzstvo-ceka-tydenni-soustredeni-v-antalyi/

You can also go to the web site for the Czech Republic Hockey Federation and find a list of all transfers. The players are listed there. Go to http://www.hokej.cz/ , find the box on the right side of the page titled "PŘESTUPY". Click on the link at the bottom of the box. The link says "přehled všech přestupů". A new window will open with all the transferred players listed, showing old team and then new team. Balan and the Psurny twins are listed there.

Another interesting note. Former Vancouver Giants G Marek Schwartz is listed as leaving Sparta Praha - destination unknown. He is currently negotiating to sign with St. Louis. He was the number two goalie with Sparta last season, playing in 15 games, having a 2.57 GAA and a .920 save percentage with one shutout. It is also on the list that Sparta's number one goalie, Petr Briza, has retired.

I'm sure PG will be in the mix for two euros. Not that they have had stellar success in the draft, but they most likely are taking two. For as well as many euros have played in the past year or so I'm surprised temas are still looking at drafting two. There HAS to be a hard working/skating Canadian/American boy out there that would jump at the shot some of these guys get.

Those names look very familiar because those players are NHL 2006 Draft eligible, but I do not think that those are the correct lists for the CHL Import Draft

Isn't the CHL Import Draft list completely different from the NHL Draft list that has European players?

The reason why I am asking is because,a poster on www.hfboards.com was trying to find out what the top 10 was for the CHL Import Draft this year,I thought that those lists that I quoted where the same for both the NHL Draft and CHL Import Draft this year. So I told him that those were the lists for the Draft.

Now I am really confused, can someone please help me get my head on straight

I think the Pats will be picking 1 Euro for sure, but with Hanzal and Kalus' status up in the air... maybe 2.

As far as the Anze Kopitar saga I believe he was released last season.

Just my thoughts.

They will have Freddie Pettersson back for sure and Lukas Vantuch is eligible to return but the HItmen haven't confirmed that he will be back. If they can draft a better/younger prospect they will and Vantuch will be gone, if not then he will be the second Euro on the team. And even then he might not make the team as we do have a dozen forwards back plus 5-6 good prospects. :groovy: When does the season begin already :bounce:

And here I was about to post the same thing. I guess I'd update my guess to eliminate the possibility of picking none. So it'll be one (forward, preferably a center) or two (could be F or D).

More like 2, no way is Tesliuk coming back. He's an overage and a Euro and really his developement stopped when he was 18. He's not good in his own end and isn't the type of player I would go forward with on my team.

As for Steinmann, one word best describes him....useless. He can go back on the Swiss Miss back to Switzerland where I'm sure the chocolate and cheese taste a whole lot better.
