ISS Draft Rankings (WHL)
1. Jared Cowen, D

The top ranked player in this year's draft possesses all of the skills to become a star in the WHL and potentially the NHL. Jared is the full package, tremendous combination of size and skill. He makes good decisions with the puck. He is poised beyond his years when he is on the ice. He can play aggressive when it is called for. Jumps into the play - good offensive instincts. Has his head on a swivel in his zone - reads the play well. Communicates well. Reminds ISS scouts of a young Chris Pronger.

2. Ryan Howse, F

A tremendously smart player that is a game breaker. Howse's great offensive skills and high level of intelligence will make him a can't miss prospect. Played on a week team that relied on Howse for the majority of the offense. He is a great skater with superb vision. Is a blue chip prospect that will go in the top five in the WHL draft. Needs to get stronger but that will come naturally with maturity. Will put up great numbers at the next level.

3. Landon Ferraro, F

A highly offensively talented player, Ferraro is one of the purest goal scorers in the draft. Has very good puck skills, patience and vision. He makes things happen when he has the puck. Has great bloodlines as his father Ray Ferraro scored a record 108 goals in the WHL and also had a great NHL career. Will score at the next level. Was a factor in most games this year for Burnaby Winter Club finishing with 71 goals and 108 points in just 49 regular season games.

4. Carter Ashton, LW

A physically mature player that plays with an edge. Plays like a bull. Will be a physical presence at the next level with his size, strength and style of play. Ashton is oozing in hockey IQ and has a tremendous future. Played games for Midget AAA for the Saskatoon Contacts.

5. Cole Penner, LW

Has a good combination of size and strength. Likes to throw the body. Skates well and has the makings of a typical power forward. Will make a great WHL star. Uses his strength and size to his advantage. Has a great nose for the net and loves to punish with the body. Plays the game with a chip on his shoulder. Is a top ten pick in the WHL bantam draft. Showed discipline problems at the end of the season.

6. Jimmy Bubnick, LW

Bubnick is another player that is a favorite of ISS because of his gritty style and game awareness. Cummunicates with teammates on the ice. Tricky stick. Protects the puck well. Good skater with speed. His offensive instinct is a positive and will be an asset at the next level but his future lies in becoming a solid 2-way player.

7. Cody Eakin, C

An offensively talented player. Has very good puck skills, patience and vision. Makes things happen when he has the puck. A great playmaker. A solid consistent year and has developed as one of the top offensive players in the draft. Continued to improve his draft stock with a strong performance at recent Directors Cup, finishing with 6 goals and 12 points in just 4 games playing for the Winnipeg AAA Red. Will be a solid offensive contributor at the next level.

8. Steve Chaffin, D

A big, strong powerful skater is what you get with Steve. He has all the tools that great defenceman require. He carries the puck and creates offense. His strong skating allows him to always be in position and rarely gets beat off the rush.

9. Stefan Elliot, D

Has a good combination of size and strength. Likes to throw the body. Skates well and can turn on a dime. A strong puck handler, moves the puck well. Has the ability to join the rush and provide some offence from the back end. Has great vision on the ice and makes the first pass out of the zone. Showed tremendous leadership. Is very rarely caught out of position. Takes the body hard and knows when to jump in the rush.

10. Tyson Barrie, D

An offensively skilled defenseman with tremendous offensive instincts. With his quick hands, great mobility, and the ability to jump up on the rush and create chances, Barrie will be a definite point producing defenseman at the next level. Gives up a little defensively with his style of play. A high risk, high reward player. He can be a power play specialist. Bloodlines are great as his father Len Barrie scored 185 pts in the WHL for the Kamloops Blazers.
