The Last Time
The Tri-City Americans (19-24-5-3, 46 points, 4th in the U.S. Division) won their second straight game with a wire-to-wire 4-2 victory at Spokane over the archrival Chiefs last Saturday night. The win vaulted the Americans past the Chiefs into fourth in the U.S. Division by one point. Dylan Stanley led the way with one goal (15) and one assist. Shane Gimas (2) would tally the game-winner. Shawn Belle (11) added a single and Marc Connors (8) would seal the deal with an empty net goal with just 55 seconds remaining in the game. Matt Schneider chipped in with two assists. Carey Price was solid between the pipes, stopping 34 Spokane shots for his 17th win of the season. The Chiefs would out shoot the Americans 36-19 on the night. Special teams were the difference in the contest as the Americans were 2-3 on the power play while the Chiefs went 0-2. With the win the Americans are now undefeated in their last three (2-0-1) in the Spokane Arena and are 3-4-1-1 against the Chiefs in the Highway 395 series. Overall the Americans are 11-14-3-3 against U.S. Division clubs. The archrivals will next meet on Saturday, February 19th at 7:05 pm in the Three Rivers Coliseum. It’s the Chiefs final regular season visit this year. Only 1,700 tickets remain for the game.

Americans vs. Kootenay
The Americans are 0-1-1 against the Ice this year in the four-game season series. Both game were played at the Rec Plex in Cranbrook, B.C. The teams skated to a 1-all tie on opening night September 24th. The Ice beat the Americans 5-2 on January 23rd. Kootenay has out shot the Americans 58-53 in the two match ups. The Americans are 1-10, 10% on the power play and have killed off 14-16 Ice power play opportunities, good for an 87.5% kill ratio. The teams will meet for the final time in regular season play on Wednesday, March 16th at 7:05 pm in the Three Rivers Coliseum.

Tri-City is 2-1 in February and is 5-5-2 against B.C. Division foes this year…Carey Price has set a franchise records for shutouts in a season this year with six. Last Friday Price set the franchise record of seven shutouts in a career with a 4-0 whitewash of Price George. The 17-year-old goaltender shared the mark with former Americans Aaron Baker (1993-97) and Tyler Weiman (2000-04). Price is the all-time franchise leader in G.A.A. at 2.39…Shawn Belle is second in all-time games played by a defenseman with 237. Darrell Hay leads with 268…Dylan Stanley is ninth all-time in goals with 110. He needs one to reach Stu Barnes in eighth with 111. Next up is Eric Johansson at 112. Stanley needs 28 points in the final 20 games to become only the fifth American to reach the 300 career point plateau…Jason Beeman (246), Ian McDonald (242) and Marc Connors (241) are all approaching the 250 career game mark…The Americans are 7-7 in one goal games but have allowed a league high 10 empty net goals this season…Matt Schneider has three empty net goals…
