Home town and position: Vancouver, B.C. forward

Evander Kane showed enough offensive upsidee to be selected in the late round of this year's WHL bantam draft. But many recruiters wonder whether or not his game will be suited for the rugged style of the WHL.

Has significantly progressed this season. He started as a decent well

With their first pick in the 2006 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft, the Vancouver Giants were proud to select EVANDER KANE from Vancouver, B.C.

Kane is a 5'11", 155lbs. forward who spent this season playing both left wing and centre. Last year, he played with the Bantam AAA North Shore Winter Club squad.

"Evander has fantastic speed, good puck-handling skills, and is a fierce competitor who can be a very difficult guy to play against," says Giants Head Scout Jason Ripplinger. "We're very pleased to select a local propsect in the first round of this year's draft who one day will be able to play for the Giants in front of his hometown family and friends."

Without looking back I think the most they ever drafted from B.C. might be only four.

looks like Spokane drafted Cowen after all (even after the kid said he would not report to them should they draft him).. so is he very valuable trade bait, or are the Chiefs gonna try to convince him differently.

Is there anywhere that has a complete draft list? - I did a quick search and couldn't find it. I find it odd to have the Bantam draft while the WHL playoffs are still going on though - for the teams still in the hunt it kinda splits their focus in my mind.

These guys will be off the PPL

Paul Albers
Brett Parker
Mitch Bartley
Dustin Slade
Mark Fistric
Brett Festerling
Chad Scharff
Kyle Lamb

(Overagers removed by everyone and 19s get placed on special list for now)

They also have A. Meszaros on the pro list but he wasn't included in the 50PPL list. Bertram only on college list.

As for the others cut maybe Turris or more than likely any guys who were 17. Mike Bolzon is a possible cut.

Great job Giants! Picking Dale Saip's kid!

Cam Reid is phenomenal! He used to live in North Van, but moved with his two brothers and parents to a hockey school in tsawwassen last year. his mom is a teacher at my school, and Cam came once and seemed real nice, hopefully we can see him in a Giants uniform very sooN! :thumb:
