Brandon, Manitoba -- For at least two members of the Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings, Wednesday will be Camp Day. However, Camp Day is not to be confused with Training or Summer Evaluation Camp. Instead, Mark Derlago and Tyler Dittmer will be serving coffee and donuts and signing autographs as Tim Hortons hosts its annual Camp Day across Canada.

Camp Day at Tim Hortons is the one day a year when every penny raised from coffee sales at participating stores will be donated to the Tim Horton Children's Foundation.

"By purchasing a coffee on Camp Day, our customers give kids who live in their very own community, an experience to remember and inspire them for years to come," says Don Schroeder, president of the Tim Horton Children's Foundation. "Truly, every coffee counts. Thanks to the generous contributions of our customers, we raised over $6 million for Camp Day last year. This year, we are hoping to exceed that amount and sent even more kids to camp."

Established in 1986, Camp Day gives customers the opportunity to buy a coffee and help send over 11,000 kids - who could not otherwise afford it - on the camping adventure of a lifetime. All children who attend are selected by Tim Hortons store owners who work closely with local youth organizations and schools to choose those who would most benefit from an experience at summer camp.

During their stay at camp, kids participate in a wide range of first-class programs and activities designed to build self-confidence, self-esteem, and leadership skills.

Two former members of the Brandon Youth Hockey Association program, Derlago and Dittmer will be working at the Tim Hortons (South location; next to Canadian Tire) from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

While Derlago led the club in goals during the 2005-06 campaign, Dittmer finished among the WHL leaders in Rookie scoring.

The Tim Horton Children's Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization founded in 1974. Funding for the Foundatin comes from Camp Day, year-round donations collected through counter and drive thru coin boxes located at over 2,800 Tim Hortons stores. In the last twenty years, over 83,000 children have attended a Foundation camp at no cost to them or their families.
