Calgary, Alberta -- Hockey Canada, in conjunction with the Canadian Hockey League, announced today that forty four of Canada's top junior aged players, including two members of the Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings have been invited to attend Canada's National Junior Team Development Camp next month.

19-year old center Codey Burki will be joined by 19-year old defenceman Dustin Kohn, as well as forty-two others will attend the camp, scheduled to run from July 23rd to 28th in Calgary.

A Winnipeg product and a former first round bantam draft choice of the Wheat Kings, Burki is coming off a solid season that saw him score 27 goals and 61 points. Burki is expected to be one of at least three Manitobans to be chosen at this weekend's National Hockey League Entry Draft in Vancouver.

Burki was ranked 18th overall among North American skaters by the Central Scouting Bureau, while Jonathan Toews of the Unversity of North Dakota is one of Canada's top two prospects. Brandon product Ryan White of the Calgary Hitmen meanwhile is currently ranked 26th overall.

A second round draft choice of the NHL's New York Islanders, Kohn was acquired from Calgary at last January's trade deadline. In 69 games during the 2005-06 campaign, the Edmonton product scored four goals, 29 points and led the club with an impressive +13 ranking.

The players invited to next month's camp were identified, evaluated and selected based on evaluation reports conducted during the 2005-06 season based on performances on Under 17, Under 18 and National junior teams.

Canada's National Junior Team Development Camp will be under the direction of head coach Craig Hartsburg of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds as well as assista coaches Curtis Hunt of Regina and Clement Jodoin of the QMJHL's Lewiston Maniacs.

The roster features 12 players that captured gold with Canada's National Junior Team at the 2006 IIHF World Junior Championship, including Toews.

Burki, Toews will be joined by one other Manitoban - Winnipeg's Darren Helm of the Medicine Hat Tigers.

One player conspicuous by his absense was Brandon goalkeeper Tyler Plante. The former WHL Rookie of the Year in 2005 was chosen by Florida in round two of last summer's NHL draft in Ottawa.
