PRINCE GEORGE, BC- The Prince George Cougars have acquired 19 year old defenseman Vladimir Mihalik (“Ma-Hah-Lick”) from the Red Deer Rebels in exchange for a 4th round Bantam selection in 2008.
Mihalik, a 6’8”, 234 lbs. 1st round (30th overall) selection of the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2005, suited up in 62 games with the Rebels last season, registering 3 goals, 9 assists, 12 points, and 86 PIM.
Mihalik also skated for his native Slovakia this past Christmas at the World Junior Championships in Vancouver. In 6 games played, the Presov, Slovakia product recorded 3 assists and 8 PIM.
The Cougars will be using their 1st round selection in the 2006 CHL Import Draft on Wednesday.
