CHIEFS HIRE HOLMSTROM AS ATHLETIC THERAPIST/STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING COACH
6/29/2006

The Spokane Chiefs have announced that Tim Holmstrom has been named the Athletic Therapist and Strength and Conditioning Coach. Holmstrom has spent the past four seasons as the Athletic Trainer and Strength coach for the Seattle Thunderbirds.

“We were very fortunate that Tim was interested in this move for his family,” General Manager Tim Speltz said. “He is very qualified and his experience will make the transition very easy for our players and staff.”

"I appreciate the opportunity to join the Spokane Chiefs organization,” Holmstrom stated. “Being in Spokane benefits both my professional goals and my family. The Chiefs have a commitment to excellence that I am proud to be a part of."

“We’re excited to add a person of Tim’s qualifications to our team. It’s an added bonus that he has experience in the WHL,” Chiefs Head Coach Bill Peters said. “We’re looking forward to having Tim and his wife, Kim, join the organization.”

Holmstrom earned his Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sport Science at Oregon State University and his Masters in Health Education at Portland State University in 2002. Before joining the Thunderbirds, Holmstrom was a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer for the PSU football and basketball teams.

Holmstrom holds certification as an Athletic Trainer and Strength and Conditioning Specialist.

The 29-year-old replaces Darcy Bishop as Athletic Therapist. Bishop, who served the role for five seasons, resigned earlier this month to allow himself more time with his family.

Roman sounds like what we just need for our Powerplay. It was dead awful near the end of the season.

Hopefully the special teams will be a big improvement over last year.

I sure hope so too, the PP really can't get much worse than it was last year...I still remember a 5 on 3 for about a minute and a half against Everett or Portland or someone, where the Chiefs practically chased Everett or Portland guys around the entire time and didn't come close to getting a shot off. :dead:
