Blades Sign First Round Pick

SASKATOON,SK - The Saskatoon Blades announced that they signed 2006 1st
round draft pick Mitch Berg to a Western Hockey League Educational Contract.

Berg, a defensemen from Saskatoon was the 15th pick overall in this past May’s WHL Bantam Draft spent last season toiling with the Saskatoon Generals in the Saskatoon Bantam AA League.

Blades Assistant General Manager Jarrod Brodsky commented on today’s signing “The Saskatoon Blades are very excited to have signed Mitch to a WHL Education Contract and we look forward to Mitch joining the Blades as a full time member in the seasons to come.”

The Blades also announced that the team’s 2006 Training Camp will take place in Martensville beginning Thursday August 31st with Rookie Camp Ice which runs through until Saturday September 2nd. The Blades veteran hit the ice September 2nd along with holdovers from Rookie Camp with main camp running till the 5th of September. Training Camp will wrap up with the annual Blue & White Intrasquad game at the nearby Martensville Arena.
