After the replaced the around the dome whatever, the jumbotron is the next outdated technology to be replaced.

I am almost surprised that with the talk of possibly a new arena, they would spend the money now on it, if there is a good chance of them moving out soon.

Not really. "Soon" in this case is likely nearly a decade away, at which point the next jumbotron would be in line for replacement. Even if "soon" meant a year or two, the new jumbotron could easily be transported to the new building.
