Regina Pats Weekly Update (Sept. 4 – Sept. 10, 2006)

Roster Update: Following the final day of rookie camp, the team made their final cuts. Prospects that did not get reassigned to their midget teams respectively got to head to main camp. Among the players invited was Colten Teubert, the Pats 2005 1st overall selection in the WHL Bantam Draft. The Pats will also be bringing to camp their 1st pick in the WHL Bantam Draft, Brett Miller. Other players include Jordan Eberle, Kyle Mulder, Jesse Grey, Curtis Kulchar, Jeff Bosch, Dru Cotterill, and Regina product Brayden Metz.

Pat Top Scorer: The Regina Pats may have lost their top scorer Petr Kalus to the Boston Bruins of the NHL, but when it comes to keeping up with the points (58) Kalus earned last year, the Pats 20 year old Garrett Festerling was right there with 58 as well. Festerling, Kyle Ross, and Justin Bernhardt, will have much larger roles this upcoming season with the absence of Petr Kalus and over aged players Matt Robinson and Denis Tolpeko.

Finish Touch: With the landing of Finish forward Niko Snellman on Prairie soil, the Pats are hoping that Snellman will turn out to be just like their leading scorer in the 2005-06 season Petr Kalus.
