That leaves four goaltenders, three without Dakers and Liewan will play another week before being sent back to Abbotsford Midget.

Eleven Defensemen, including Negrin who won't be playing for another coupleo of weeks due to an ankle injury, with the 20-year-olds in there the club will likely keep eight. McNabb is 15 and won't stay past the week. Hoppins will get a longer look but is likely on the bubble. Wilkins is a bit of a mystery as he could make the club as a sixteen-year-old but the skating, though he gets the job done, is somewhat awkward. Probably still growing into his 6'5" frame. If one of the 20's is dealt (Busto or Flatt) because Dakers is back then Wilkins stays.

16 forwards are left. The Vets are safe, with the exception of Luke Wiens who is in a dogfight for the tough-guy role. He looks to be up for the challenge that is coming from Trent Colberg, 18, who played in Drumheller (AJHL) last season and Liam Jeffries, 17, who played with the Dyamiters (KIJHL) last season. Jeffries went with both of them in camp and both tilts were likely a draw. It almost seemed like Wiens got the message at the intrasquad game today and schooled Colberg letting him know that his spot isn't going to be taken easily. Jeffries went with Ian Barteaux in the game and gained an easy decision. Two other interesting inclusions in the post-weekend camp are Mike Matlo and Mike Stickland. Both are 17 and both had good camps. Matlo disapeared somewhat at the intrasquad game today but Stickland had the only goal for Blue. 16-year-old Kevin King has been a pleasant surprise and looks like a lock for one of the rookie positions.
Tylan Stephens, 17, is another lock and almost made the club last season.
Danny McSween, 17, also looked good at the blue-white game and looks to be making a strong case.

They'll keep 13 of the 16 left. IMHO, Stephens and McSween stay, as does King. Out of Stickland, Matlo, Jeffries and Colberg I think it's a battle between Jeffries and Colberg for the final spot. Give the edge to Colberg.

Here's a quick line combo
Forwards:
Russell, Maxwell, Da Silva
Billsten, Sylvester, Bailey
Jacquemet, Fussi, Stephens
King, McSween, Wiens
Colberg

Defense:
Busto, Greenan
Negrin, Bohunicky
Kurceba, MacDonald
Barteaux, Wilkins

Goal:
Dakers, Lazaruk, Pugh.

Couple of scenarios: A)Dakers comes back and Flatt is dealt/released straight up for a pick. That means Pugh is headed back to the AJHL and Lazaruk will share/back-up Dakers for second straight year.
B) Dakers comes back and they get a better offer for him and maybe one of the d-men (Kurceba?, MacDonald?), so they package the two and go with Lazaruk as the starter with Pugh in the backup role. That likely means that a forward is coming the other way and Coberg, McSween, King or Wiens is the odd-man out.
C) Lazaruk doesn't like the idea of backing up Dakers for another year as an 18-year-old and asks for a trade. That packaged with a d-man becomes a lot more attractive to get some scoring back that it looks like the club could use.

Just an opinion.

Does anyone have any idea who our captain might be this year? Just a opinion would be interesting.
