In today's Regina LeaderPost in the WHL NOTES part (by Greg Harder) it says...

The Hitmen may lose import RW Freddie Pettersson, 19, to the Swedish Elite League...And that's all it says. Please don't shoot the messenger :D . Thoughts?

It would be a blow to the Hitmen if he were to head back to Sweden. Its the first I of heard of this, though I am a good 5 hours from Calgary. Freddie did score twice in the annual Golden Bear vs Oiler Rookie game last night, it was the first time in along while the the Oilers actually won the game.

Here's a story from the Calgary Herald... Pettersson attends Oilers rookie camp http://www.canada.com/calgaryherald/news/sports/hitmen/story.html?id=361d8f1e-8e21-4068-8aac-b18e684de489

"If Pettersson doesn't make the team, he will be re-assigned to Frolunda. He will not be assigned to an American Hockey League farm team." The team being referred to is the Oilers.

Freddie will be back in HITMEN colours this year. As expected the Edmonton paper that first printed the report of Petterson going back to Sweden has printed a retraction so Freddie comes back here (unless he makes the Oilers which is a 2 % chance this year). :groovy: Only 8 nights until game 1 when we trounce the Rebels. :bounce:

I find it hilarious how newspapers are allowed to publish stuff like that... then go "Oops our bad"

Here is the Calgary Herald article titled "McMillan makes case for job" http://www.canada.com/calgaryherald/news/sports/hitmen/story.html?id=f2c2b92b-bd12-40d1-be47-ea849a24a0e8

This and That: As suspected, a report out of Edmonton quoting an Oilers member of management saying Pettersson would be returned to Swedish team Frolunda if he didn't make the NHL team was inaccurate. "The Fly" will be back with the Hitmen if the Oilers cut him loose and, given the new clampdown on obstruction this season, should be a 40-goal sniper . . . White, the third-round draft pick of Montreal Canadiens, missed the first couple days of rookie camp due to the death in the family.
