The Everett Silvertips are once again poised to challenge for U.S. Division supremacy. The 'Tips returns many of their key players from last year, but also boast some young players looking to make themselves known.

Up Front: The 'Tips may have lost some offensive punch with the graduation of Torrie Wheat and John Lammers. However, they still possess some highly skilled forwards who can put up numbers. Peter Mueller and Zach Hamill provide Everett with one of the best one-two punches up the middle in the WHL. Both have tremendous playmaking abilites, and both compete hard. Either one could be a candidate to challenge for a League scoring title. Winger Ondrej Fiala brings plenty of speed and scoring ability, although he's still recovering from off-season surgery, while Brady Calla brings tremendous defensive responsibility and the ability to create offense. Winger Bandon Campos put up huge numbers in the BCHL, and has been an offensive force through the pre-season. The 'Tips also hope rookie Kyle Beach can produce the way he did in his brief audition with the team last season.

On The Blue Line: The Silvertips return six defensemen from last season led by veterans Jason Fransoo and Cody Thoring, who will anchor the blue line and provide leadership. In addition, the 'Tips also welcome back solid rearguards Taylor Ellington, Eric Doyle, Graham Potuer and Jonathan Harty, giving the team plenty of experience and depth in the defensive zone. Rookie defenders Tyler Hlookoff and Mike Alexander will also be in the mix on the 'Tips' blue line. While the 'Tips' should be as defensively sound as ever, the one question to be answered is who will replace the puck-moving and power-play quarterbacking abilities of the departed Shaun Heshka.

Goaltending: With 18-year-old Leland Irving between the pipes, there should be no worries about the strength of the Silvertips' goaltending. Irving, selected 26th overall by Calgary in the 2006 NHL draft, enjoyed a tremendous campaign last year, and will be expected to do much the same this season.
