Giants look to go to 8-0 tonight at the Pacific Coliseum
Swift Current hopes to keep current B.C. division winning streak intact
Only 24 hours after thrashing their B.C. division rival Prince George Cougars 6-0, the Vancouver Giants are back home to face the Swift Current Broncos Saturday night.
The Giants got a hat trick from J.D. Watt and singles from Jason Reese, Jonathon Blum and Michal Repik. Reese also chipped in with three assists.
The Broncos (4-2-0) defeated the expansion Chilliwack Bruins last night 3-0 for their second consecutive shutout against the B.C. division. The Broncos average only two goals per game but have a G.A.A of 1.55.
Vancouver expects to be without the services of Spencer Machacek who was injured early in the first period last night in Prince George. Former Giant Ryan Molle will be in the lineup for the Broncos tonight.
Even without Machacek the Giants offense will tough to contain. Eleven different skaters have at least two goals for Vancouver including defenseman Cody Franson who is tied for the WHL lead in scoring with 12 points.
Tyson Sexsmith (3-0-0, 2.53) is expected to start in goal allowing coach Don Hay to dress three 20-year old skaters tonight. This will be the last home game as a Vancouver Giant for one of these three skaters. Swift Current will dress Travis Yonkman (2-0-0, 0.96) after Kyle Moir played last night against the Bruins.
