Jory to share Moose Jaw netminding with Joe Perricone

Brandon, Manitoba – The Brandon Wheat Kings have dealt 19-year old goalkeeper Kurt Jory to the Moose Jaw Warriors in a Western Hockey League trade announced Friday morning.

In exchange, Brandon receives a fifth round draft choice in the 2008 WHL bantam draft.

Friday’s move leaves the Wheat Kings with 25 players on their active roster, including goalkeepers Tyler Plante and 17-year old rookie Joe Caligiuri.

Jory had appeared in two games this season, sharing a 22-save shutout with Plante on September 29th against Red Deer and losing 7-5 in Prince Albert on October 4th. A former member of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League’s Neepawa Natives, the 6’ 184 lb local product appeared in seventeen games last season, compiling a 3.51 goals against average and one shutout.

A former member of the Winnipeg AAA midget Wild, Caligiuri is the lone player on the Wheat Kings’ roster to see action this season but that could change this weekend as Brandon plays three games in three nights, beginning Friday night against the visiting Regina Pats. Brandon travels to Saskatoon on Saturday before closing out the weekend on Sunday night in Prince Albert.

A former 10th round selection of the Wheat Kings in the 2004 WHL bantam draft, Caligiuri finished second among Manitoba AAA Midget League goalkeepers last season with a 2.04 goals against average and five shutouts in 21 regular season starts for the Wild.

Tickets to Friday’s game are on sale now at the Keystone Centre box office, by calling 726-3555 or online at ticketmaster.ca
