CALGARY, AB. - The Calgary Hitmen lost a heartbreaker in front of 7,433 fans at the Pengrowth Saddledome Friday night.

Calgary-born Keaton Ellerby notched two goals, including the game winner with 22 seconds left in the contest, to lead the visiting Kamloops Blazers to a narrow 3-2 victory.

"Obviously it hurts a lot right now," said Calgary forward Derek LeBlanc shortly after the deflating setback. "We've got to come out with a better effort against Med Hat tomorrow night."

The Hitmen, who were led by a pair of goals off the stick of Ryan White, have a night to digest the loss before heading out on the road for a Saturday night tilt in Medicine Hat against the Tigers.

Brady Mason also scored for the Blazers (4-2-1-1), who have won three straight games since acquiring netminder Dustin Butler from the Portland Winter Hawks on Oct. 13. Butler stopped 19 of 21 shots he faced including one off the stick of defenceman Karl Alzner as the buzzer sounded to end the game.

Brodie Dupont had two assists for Calgary (5-4-0-0), while Dan Spence made 25 saves in a losing effort in the Calgary net.

The Blazers went 2-for-11 with the man advantage, while the Hitmen failed to score on their seven power-play opportunities.

"If you want to win games in this league, you can't let teams have 11 powerplays," said LeBlanc, who was named the Super Drug Mart Super Skating Hitmen. "It's something we're trying to focus on improving right now."

Ellerby was chosen as first star of the game, while White earned second star honours and Dupont nabbed third star billing. Carson McMillan was chosen as the IBEW Local 424 Hardest Working Hitmen.
