DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE MONTH: Sponsored by the BASF/Adrenalin

The Manitoba AAA Midget League is pleased to announce that Kyle Birch of the Winnipeg Wild is the BASF/Adrenalin defensive player of the month for October.

Kyle, a goaltender with the Wild, has shown consistency in his game and the ability to adjust when required for every opponent. He posted a record of 3-0-0-1 in the month of October and currently leads the MMHL with a GAA of 1.24. Two of his three wins in the month of October came as the result of shutouts. Kyle is one of four goaltenders still vying for a possible spot on this year's Team Manitoba squad.

This kid is impressive in my book. At last years camp it was a toss up as far as I was concerned between him and Pickard. He'll be a shoe in as our back up next year as we will continue to be a team strong between the pipes.

Adam Hughesman a forward with the Winnipeg Thrashers is the AAA Midget WHL player of the Month for December.

In his first year with the Thrashers, 15 year old Adam Hughesman has scored 11 goals and adding 9 assists for 20 points during nine games this month. During this period, he scored in eight of the nine games, and the flurry of offensive activity has pushed him to third in league scoring, and leads the loop with 31 goals.

Adam is not also just an offensive threat. He is quickly evolving into a strong two way player that plays with a lot of grit. Aspiring to play at the next level, he works hard in every practice, and he produces in games against all levels of opponents. He was a second round draft pick (28th overall) of the Tri-City Americans in the 2006 WHL Bantam Draft.
