It's unbelievable to figure he has only 1 goal and 1 assist during this amount of games!! If he was playing as he was at the end of last season there is no way he would have such low #s.

yeah either he's playing hurt or just is having a confidence slump, but these are very un-Brule-like numbers. I'm really hoping he steps it up and starts filling the net or at least setting up others to fill the net -- Go Gilbert we still believe you can do it.

They are only carrying 21 players it appears but why does he have to be the 21st guy in three straight games?

it won't take Brule to much longer to get his game back on track. Maybe he didn't like his playing condissions under the old coach and maybe he just has to adapt to the new coach. i expected him to be 3 on the team in scoring but i guess that ain't the chance.

I wouldn't expect him to get a tonne of points right away. It's not like he's a big player out there against those N-H-Ler's. Nothing like in junior.

Hitchcock was hired today to coach Columbus.Should be interesting to see how this effects Brule.

Hitch likes vets. Hitch and Hay are good friends. The idea of Brule returning to the Giants now becomes entirely possible, IMO.

Very good point Knuckles, I think its less than 50% but the chance Brule could return are better than what they were last week.

Hopefully Hitch gives Brule a legit shot at making the team, playing him more than the 2-3 minutes a game he has been getting.

I think Brule has played his 10 games in the NHL hasn't he and is no longer eligible to return to junior.

Hitch will be a wake-up call for the CBJ for sure .. at the very least he'll kick a few butts and get them jump-started for a time.

Brule is a hard worker so I don't think that he'll have a tough time with Hitch who demands hard work above everything else -- similar to hay he rewards hard work and punishes lazy players -- hopefully this'll give Gilbert the motivation he needs to elevate his game to an NHL level.

The only thing the ten games mean is that CBJ are on the hook to pay him his full NHL salary for this season. He can be reassigned to the Giants at any point.

Brule returning or Spurgeon coming here or any 20 year old that had played his 10 games basically means that they feel the Gaints with Hay as coach and a good shot of a prolonged play-off run ,PLUS a Memorial CUP will be more benificial to the player than 3-7 minutes in a pro ranks whether it Be NHL< AHL ECHL. The player would still be paid his pro salary (provided he had played the 10 games) but get substantially more ice time and further his development.

First game tonight for the Blue-Jackets and Brule under new Head coach ken Hitchcock.

Brules' Stats:

+1 11:09 Ice time 19 Shifts, 1A, 2 PIM.

In the pre-game show Hitchcock referred to GB as having the potential to be another Brian Trottier and as being an untapped resource.

Nice to hear, and it seems Hitch followed through:

Brule was third among centres in ice time (Fedorov had 21:36, Malhotra 13:51, Brule 11:01) but one of only two centres to get PP time (Fedorov 7:04, Brule 3:29).

One hit, two shots on goal... not great but an improvement over past games. applause

Discuss.

This trade was a way for the Oilers to free up cap space and hopefully he can turn it around and get on the right track next season. IMO I think that the Blue Jackets rushed him. Anyways good luck to him.
