PRINCE ALBERT, SK – The Prince Albert Raiders announce they have secured the release of 20 year-old goaltender Jesse Deckert from the Salmon Arm Silverbacks of the British Columbia Junior Hockey League. Deckert was waived through the Western Hockey League October 17th as the Raiders reduced their roster to three 20 year-olds (Mike Hellyer, A.J. Thelen and Cole Simpson) and has played since with the Silverbacks.

General Manager Donn Clark has brought Deckert back to the Raiders after releasing Simpson on Thursday.

Earlier this season, Deckert appeared in 5 games with the Raiders with a GAA of 4.03, Save Percentage of .888 and a record of 1-3-1-0.

Deckert will be in the Raiders lineup tonight when they entertain the Saskatoon Blades at 7:30 PM at the Art Hauser Centre.

Good to see he is back, should be a good game tonight!!

What is happening with one of the other goalies.

After the Simpson / Deckert switcheroo, the lineup is showing 14 forwards, 7 D, and 3 goalies.
So, they can keep the 3 goalies if they choose.
But, if Deckert is starting tonight, and Salmon Arm is demanding to be compensated, the Raiders and the WHL must have worked out something with Salmon Arm to allow him to be released or to lift his suspension (which the WHL honors).
I guess we'll find out soon!

FINALLY... a win! Good first game back for Jesse Deckert. Made some nice saves and played pretty solid. The team seemed to play a lot better tonight with more jump then we've seen recently. Couple of not bad tilts, too.
Hopefully this'll get them motivated to play well in Brandon tomorrow.

Also, sounds like Clark's planning on keeping 3 goalies for the forseeable future. He's hoping Deckert can help the younger guys in their development, and help us grab a few wins along the way too. Sounds like Salmon Arm was satisfied with some cash to give the release for Deckert.
