He was released from Red Deer today. We could use an 18 year old d-man. He was Brandon's 1st rounder from 2003 so he shouldn't be that bad.

But Clarke will wait to see if anyone else picks him up first. If not the Raiders will take him tho because they love the guys that no one else picks up!

Yep, there have been a couple of duds come through..
Beauchemin, Bryce Lamb and Aime have turned out okay though (all undrafted). Wonder what happened with Cann?

I was thinking the same question.

Not sure, he may have been referring to the comment that "If not the Raiders will take him tho because they love the guys that no one else picks up!" and then naming some undrafted guys (that nobody wanted) that have made the Raiders?

but, Cann was a first rounder and maybe he is or was OK, but gotta wonder why Brandon, Lethbridge, and Red Deer didn't want him anymore. I guess he did something to tick off Sutter, and on the Red Deer site there's a thread about this, and speculation that his WHL career is over. Be interesting to see if anyone shows interest... either they couldn't get any interest in trade talks or maybe he's got issues nobody wants to inherit...

after watching him play in RD, it was evident that he CAN'T play at the WHL level of play. He makes mistakes and compounds the mistakes by making more. That said, maybe the pressure of playing in RD was too much, who knows. One thing for sure, if you get him for free, what does it hurt to give him a shot, maybe the location (again) change is just what he needs.

He has a shoe in the Raider door already than. Clarke can make another useless move.

At times it looks like he is just lacking the speed or conditioning to play in the WHL, and other times he looks like a random person they pulled out of the stands and put out there (ie: never played hockey before). Red Deer was the 4th stop in his WHL career already, I wonder if anyone else is going to take a gamble on him?

Canner was and is just bad.Clark got rid of Simpson because of defensive errors,Cann is worse.

There was so much hype over Canner when he came to Brandon. He just never was able to get a grasp on WHL hockey.
