Two very hard working teams went at each tonight, with it only being fitting that the game went into OT and then the shootout.
This was the first game the Blazers have had on home ice that has gone into a shootout since it was brought in, and the bonus was the win.
First period action was great with Spokane having many chances early to go up by one or two goals but Butler stood his ground, the rest of the period was back and forth and very well played. The Blazers opened the scoring with Dowd scoring his first Whl goal, from Rohac and Schmermund, the Chiefs said it was kicked in,but after the refs huddled it was allowed, I am not sure if it was or not from my angle.
The second period the Blazers came out strong, and then Spokane got into major penelty trouble playing half the period shorthanded, Kamloops pestered Chiefs goalie Armstrong with shots but he stood tall and kept it 1-0, this then gave the Chiefs momentum and they were able to tie the game up with a powerplay goal from Ryan.
In the third the Blazers again come out strong, and were able to go up 2-1 with a shorthanded goal from Jorgensen, they then went up 3-1 with Puustinen and Macias getting together. But Spokane kept working hard and pulled within one when Rutherford scored with about 7 minutes left, he then got the tieing marker with just over two minutes left in the game.
The OT was back in forth with both teams getting good chances. but both goalies stood tall.
In the shootout Ryan scored to put the Chiefs up, and then Rohac scored to even it up for the Blazers The next three Chiefs missed and the Kamloops 5th shooter Reid Jorgensen scored to win the game!
