Broncos Enjoy 2nd Place During Christmas Break
DEC 18 - The Swift Current Broncos have played 37 games in the first half of the 2006/07 and head into the Christmas Break in sole possession of 2nd place in the East Division, trailing the 1st place Brandon Wheat Kings by just 4 points.

The Broncos have seen a large improvement to their record over last season and boast an 18-17-1-1 record as compared to last season when they had just 10 wins with a 10-18-1-8 record.

Levi Nelson leads the Broncos in scoring heading into Christmas with 28 points (7G; 21A) while Dale Weise leads the team in goals with 11. Last season Ned Lukacevic was the team leader after 37 games played with 14 goals and 12 assists while Jeremy Schenderling had a team leading 16 goals.

The Broncos have had a consistent start to 2006/07 with their longest winning streak of 3 games occuring twice from September 30th to October 6th and more recently from December 2nd to December 6th. The teams longest losing skid was 4 games in length from October 28th to November 5th.

The Broncos are an undefeated 6-0-0-0 on Wednesday nights this season and are 10-7-1-1 against East Division teams. The teams season high shots for in a game has occured twice with 39 shots on October 21st (PA) and December 6th (MJ). The club allowed a season high 50 shots against on September 30th against the Lethbridge Hurricanes. The Broncos largest margin of victory was 4 goals when they defeated the Prince George Cougars 4-0 on October 10th while their worst loss was suffered on October 29th when the Calgary Hitmen scored 7 goals in a 7-0 victory.

Individual efforts have been strong this season during games. Levi Nelson's 4 points on December 2nd are a season high while Jeremy Schenderling recorded a hat trick in a the same game. Michael Wilson recorded a season high 27 penalty minutes in a period on November 11th while Kyle Moirs 23 saves in a single period on September 30th are also the highest for a Broncos goaltender this season. Brady Leavold has bragging rights for the longest player point streak with 5 games.
