Reading some of the opinions of Islanders fans on HFBoards, and they were actually in favour of him going back down to develop :confused: Now I admit I didn't pay much attention to him while he was up with them, but looking at his stats on NHL.com, an average of 13 minutes isn't bad. Granted, only 2 points in 9 games, but who are you going to replace him with that can do a better job??
No doubt that it all came down to $$$. I'm sure if the Isles need to make it to the salary-cap floor next season, he'll stick with them.
They would rather see him develop his skilled attributes. No doubt he could have stayed on as a 3rd or 4th liner, but there is nothing wrong with wanting him to come down to the WHL, develop his offensive game more where he will have a better chance at becoming a higher end offensive player than topping out as a 3rd liner.
