The trade of 20 year olds would be done early in the season.
Does anyone have any inside info on this Adam Berg kid? He has signed with us, he's a big 6'1" kid playing well in the AJHL, ranked by Central Scouting, invited for a tryout for the world Jr "A" challenge team, and yet we haven't called him up ??
I like Elmer and I think he will be a big time goal scorer for us, but he's only 15 and we're bringing him up probably for the season. But for some reason we're not bringing up Berg?
Our Listed players Mumby(18) and Berg(17) have been playing well in AJHL and invited to try out for that Jr"A" challenge team. Both are Calgary kids and it almost seems maybe they could be possible pieces for a major trade with the Hitmen. Any thoughts??
I don't know why but IMO Calgary is a likely destination for Klimchuk and maybe even Burroughs. With the extra talent we have in the area it could be a huge deal. Maybe part of it could be returning the 3rd rounder we owe for Padakin?
Well you can get a 1st maybe but definitely 2nd and 3rd round picks. I think you'll see brandon give mj a 2nd for jack shortly. It's no different then trading for a 19 yr old for 3 months? If you can get a high talent 20 and upgrade it makes no difference. We're asking for a ransom for klimchuck and he has 0 chance of playing next year. If you have a 20 year that can get you 80 points I think it's worth a high draft pick.

Berg is signed (^) and I don't get why he hasn't been called up yet either, I thought he would get a call up before Elmer.
Also for those who are curious here is Zimmer's stats in the MJHL he is producing over a point/game (as he should be with major junior experience)

the thing to keep in mind is these are 20yr olds who are not good enough for pro hockey which is why they are back in junior hockey, when comparing an elite 19yr old adding a 20yr old into the same convo just doesn't happen. Yes the time frame makes a lot of sense I fully get what your saying where its not much difference if renting a 19yr old for 3months compared to a 20yr old but in terms of they type of player they are there is a huge difference in terms of trade talk...
If you can get a 1st or 2nd round pick for either 20yr old you mention what are you doing being a fan you better be a GM
I had to retire the fans drove me out. Lol
Chopper we can not keep a 15 up until the Midget team he is registered with are out of their league and playoffs. Before that they can play a total of 5 games as an associate player, so Elmer is not here for the season: probable for the three games before the Christmas break. Berg in the new year if Klimchuk is on the Jr.s or traded
On another note the new owners are very interested to bid for the 2019 MCup and I note the 2016 bid evaluation included a review of the teams (Red Deer and Vancouver) players, prospects and draft picks, That sounds a long way off but in fact it is 4 seasons after this. May 2014 draft players would be in their 19 year old season in 2019. That makes it important to recoup and maybe increase the 2015 draft picks
Elmer is still 15 but he is considered a 16yr old as he turns 16 on dec 31st
So yes they can keep him up all year :)
You have to remember that Elmer almost made the team and was reassigned just before the season started.
