Yes, one of the defencemen is headed out of town—-likely Salame. Not sure what the return would be. Likely a low draft pick. Would like the team to pick up a Perpeluk type player. Might have to add another asset.
Colton Dach traded to Kelowna for Trevor Wong. My guess is the Blades did not want to trade him in their own division . Too bad he would have fit in here really well.
Yeah but it would have had to been a trade of a Ginnell type player or Zimmer. I’m happy with what we have
You wouldn’t trade Ginnell a 19 yr old for Dach a drafted 18 yr old with a huge upside? Yes, they would have asked for someone like Zimmer which is a totally different thing. He’s 17 with a high upside. I still think the Blades did not want to trade Dach to a team in this division. Out west he does not come back to haunt them. Salame may have eliminated himself from the OA question with his injury which is too bad.
Wong was good value. He was Kelowna's leading scorer
But I bet they didn't want him in the division
The regular season roster is updated on the website
Looks like Trae Johnson and Jesiah Bennett are listed for forwards and Tuner and Harris for Defense. Bjarnson is listed as well for goalie
Not sure where the WK will finish this year. Winnipeg may be the favourite in the East but you would have to think the WK will be in the mix for second. Regina may be the unknown depending on the supporting case for Bedard. It sure about Saskatoon and PA
I expect us to be battling for 1st. We gave a lot of depth and good young talent. The D is big and has some mobility. Goaltending is solid. Should be ok once everyone is back from NHL camps
Went to the game tonight and I am not sure where to start. Lost 10-2 giving up 50 shots on goal. Only one player looked good out there and that was Danielson who is going to be a very good player in this league. No one else really impressed me. The team could not put 2 passes together and were muscled off the puck all night. Goaltenders were hard to judge as they were hung out to dry continually. Defence was atrocious at best.Could not cover anyone and never hit anyone. Huge job here going forward.Nychuck got kicked out for a cross checking major and if it was me I would let him go as he is awful in his own end.We need some physical defence. I hope the defensive work was a one off and just a bad night otherwise it could be a long year. The only battles the team won were the 2 fights as Dube smacked McLennon and Hammett feed Geekie two bombs and dropped him. Unfortunately the team missed two penalty shots which did not help.Ritchie wasn’t too bad until he started giving the puck away in the third period on the pp’s. We were totally outclassed by Winnipeg tonight. Hope just the first game jitters and not a sign of things to come. We will need to be more physical if we intend to stop the Ice as they really moved the puck around nicely. Their smaller skilled guys need to be physically challenged. We should see a different team with Ward,Kallionkelli, and Greig back soon playing.
Far too young a lineup for the WK last night with no chance of changes tonight because of injuries and guys still away. Dressed only 10 forwards.Winnipeg’s lineup is almost identical to their bubble team minus Krebs but with Savoie back in the lineup. We are missing too much from our lineup to realistically defeat the Ice, but we still need to up our compete level to avoid another thrashing. Not sure what you do with the defence as there is no one else to put in. They need to be far more physical in order to compete.
