Playoffs make Cougars profitable

VANCOUVER -- The Prince George Cougars are once again a profitable venture. For now.

Thanks to seven home dates that drew in 37,723 fans, an average of 5,389 per game, Cougars owner Rick Brodsky said on the weekend that the franchise will show a slight profit from this past season.

That’s in contrast to the past four or five years when the ledger was stained with red ink. Attendance in this past regular season dipped to 2,967 per game at CN Centre, less than half what it was in 1999-2000.

“There’s no question seven home playoff dates really boosted our box office revenue for the season,” said Brodsky, whose team had three sellouts in the playoffs, the first time that’s happened in more than six years.

“It’s put us in a position where we have our head above water. You can’t always count on seven home games in the playoffs. This will help make up for the past few years when we haven’t had this many playoff games, it’s no secret we’ve lost sizeable amounts of money during that time.”

The Cougars made the final four for the third time in 13 seasons, and the building was fun again for fans and players with more seats filled and more noise for the opposition to contend with.

Actually, it is. Brodsky doesn't open the books public and doesn't release his season ticket numbers.
Veiled threat?

And they are bound to loose a whole lot more money in my opinion.

maybe if the fans supported the team win or lose then there wouldnt be a problem. save the bandwagon jumping for the canucks. the funny part is if the cougars left PG all these bandwagon jumpers would be the first ones to complain that there is no decent hockey in PG anymore.
win or lose you have to support the team. dont give the owners a reason to move.
