Portland and Moose Jaw Warriors Make Multi-Player Trade

    Created: Nov 8, 2007

Moose Jaw, SK: The Moose Jaw Warriors have acquired the Portland Winterhawks Captain Frazer McLaren, defenseman Ty Ariss and a 5th round pick in the 2008 WHL Bantam draft in exchange for overage left winger Keith Voytechek, forward Jason Grecica and defenseman Travis Ehrhardt.

McLaren was the 7th round (203rd overall) pick of the San Jose Sharks in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. At 6’5 and 230lbs, McLaren will bring more size to the Tribe’s offense. “Frazer is a very big power forward who skates well for his size and plays the physical side of the game very willingly. He will provide leadership and experience to our hockey club”, commented General Manager Chad Lang

Ty Ariss was selected by the Portland Winterhawks in the 2nd round of the 2005 WHL Bantam Draft. This 17 year old native of Regina, SK finds himself coming closer to home. General Manager Chad Lang commented, “Ty is a young puck moving defenseman, who skates well. He will provide depth on our backend.

Both McLaren and Ariss will meet up with the Warriors in Calgary as they get set to take on the Calgary Hitmen Friday Night at the Pengrowth Saddledome.

I think your D comes out well ahead here. Bobbee is a good skilled young player. Kerr is pretty steady with plenty of experience. The real score is Ehrhardt. Top end skater and skills who can really make things happen. Plus the overall shakeup gives the team a fresh start to go with.

It is about time the Winterhawks did something!! It doesnt matter the fact they got two players from Lethbridge (Dietrich brothers) who in my opinion have done absolutely nothing their whole careers (Nick is a rookie). But hopefulyl this will jump start them both and kick the Hawks in gear because their fan base you gotta think has got to be ferious by now!!

I noticed on either Friday or Saturday when they played against Seattle, they ended up getting outshot something like 55-15 or something. Tough to win games when your not getting ANY shots what so ever.
