Bulletin: Senators Sign Goaltender Jeff Glass To A One-year Contract Ottawa Senators Jul 28, 2008, 11:21 AM EDT OTTAWA – Ottawa Senators general manager Bryan Murray announced today the signing of goaltender Jeff Glass to a one-year, two-way contract.
Glass, 22, played last season with Ottawa’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators. In 46 games with the B-Sens, he posted a 15-20-4 record with a 2.88 goals-against average and .913 save percentage. Glass set new career highs in games played, wins, shutout victories (two), goals-against average and save percentage. He also recorded a career-best 46 saves in a 5-2 home loss to Springfield on April 5.
The Calgary native was originally selected by the Senators with their third third-round pick (89th overall) in the 2004 entry draft. Glass made his professional debut with Binghamton on Nov. 19, 2005, at Albany where he recorded eight saves in a relief appearance. He earned his first AHL win in turning aside 37 of 40 shots in a 4-3 overtime win against Syracuse five days later.
A gold-medal recipient with Canada’s entry at the 2005 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship in Grand Forks, N.D., Glass was the Western and Canadian Hockey League goaltender of the year for 2005 in addition to being recognized as a WHL west and Canadian Hockey League first-team all-star.
