Tigers shuffle scouts

Brad McEwan has become the Medicine Hat Tigers head scout.

The former Lethbridge and Swift Current general manager takes over from former head scout Bill McLellan, a retired RCMP officer who wanted to lessen his workload according to Tigers GM Willie Desjardins.

"It was Bill's choice what he wanted to do," said Desjardins. "He's a good guy and has been really good for our program."

McEwan spent four turbulent months as the Tigers coach during the 1996-97 season. He was re-hired by the Tigers from the Lethbridge Hurricanes last summer and fulfilled an assistant GM’s role with Medicine Hat, though he had no specific job title.

McLellan was promoted from regional scout to head scout after Bob Green left to join the Edmonton Oil Kings. One year later McEwan came on board.

"Bill wanted to cut back a little bit," said Desjardins. "We brought Brad on to split the duties up a little bit."
