Portland acquires Ridgeway from the Tri-City Americans

KENNEWICK, WA – Tri-City Americans Governor/General Manager Bob Tory announced today that the team has traded 18-year-old forward Joel Ridgeway to the Portland Winter Hawks in exchange for a conditional 6th round draft pick in the 2009 Bantam Draft.

The 6’2”, 183-pound left wing from Grosse Isle, Manitoba, appeared in 46 games last season for Tri-City, collecting two goals and five points, along with four penalty minutes and was a minus-3. Ridgeway was originally listed by Tri-City in October of 2006 and made his WHL-debut on February 27, 2007.

“With a pressing need to get our numbers down and with an abundance of forwards, this move frees up some space on our roster and presents Joel with the opportunity to play every night,” explained Tory. “We want to thank Joel for his contributions to our team and wish him all the best.”

After today’s trade, Tri-City’s roster now consists of 26 players, including 16 forwards, seven defensemen and three goaltenders.
